I have so much to share about this pattern, but first I want to quickly mention that I also made a Nesting Dolls expansion pattern that includes a third Nesting Dolls block and instructions for making a beginner friendly throw size quilt. You can shop the pattern HERE! A pic of the expansion quilt is toward the end of this post!

Nesting Dolls is a traditionally pieced quilt pattern recommended for the intermediate quilter and up. The pattern includes instructions for making a baby (39 1/2" x 56") and throw size quilt (63" x 73 1/2"). The pattern also includes optional FPP patterns for piecing the smaller details of the Nesting Doll blocks and a downloadable list of pieces needed for making a single doll block which is useful information if you want to make a small project (i.e. mini quilt, tote bag, pillow, etc) or the throw size quilt from the expansion pattern. A little fun fact about this design, I incorporated the tulip element in the block because it's my mom's, @gailzerbe, favorite flower🌷
I backed the quilt in Robert Kaufman's Carolina Gingham in Periwinkle and bound the quilt in Kona's Candy Pink. It's not very often that I love how the quilt top, backing, AND binding all look together (Usually there's at least one element I wish I could redo), but, in this case, I'm 100% happy with the combo.

Confession - I love this throw size layout more than the one in the quilt pattern. It's much easier to make and that third doll block with the bow just makes me so happy. More information about that pattern can be found in my blog post HERE!
