It’s Week 2 of the Be Mine Sewalong! I hope everyone enjoyed making their first 12 blocks! In this week’s newsletter I’m sharing a few more tips for piecing your next set of Heart Blocks!
1. Make HST’s with the trimmed remnants! Someone asked what they could do with the two bottom snowballed corners on the Heart Block and here’s my suggestion…Snowball the corners as instructed in the pattern and then go back and sewing 1/2” away from the original sewn line.
Trim 1/4” away from the original sewn line and you’re left with a 3 1/4” square HST ready to press!
You can use the HST’s to make a coordinating pillow for your Be Mine quilt!
2. Trim multiple snowballed corners at once! You can trim your top two snowballed corners at the same time on the C piece by angling the corner of your ruler so it intersects with sewn lines.
3. And, a common technique for trimming snowballed corners… Line up your snowballed pieces on your cutting mat, lining up the sewn lines with a line on your mat. Using a ruler, place it on top of your units, 1/4” away from the sewn line, and trim multiple corners at once!
Hope those suggestions help! Here are all of my 24 Heart Blocks together! Can’t wait to start sewing those “X” Blocks next week!
