Firecracker Sewalong Week 1

Firecracker Sewalong Week 1

TGIF and Happy 1st day of the Firecracker Sewalong!

This week we're cutting out our fabric! (And if you need a kit, check out the cute Firecracker bundles on Sewtopia's site!)

Before you start cutting, look at your pull...are you using any directional prints for your Firecracker Blocks*? (*Not including the fabric for the fuse and sparkler portion of the block.) If you said yes, you will want to make the flying geese units with those directional print(s) using a one-at-a-time method....Which brings me to the first freebie in today's newsletter - A FPP pattern and template for traditionally piecing the flying geese units one-at-a-time! Click on the red button below to download the file!

If your prints are non-directional or you don't mind your prints going in different directions in the flying geese units, then follow the pattern as instructed :)

In next week's newsletter I will be sharing some tips for traditionally piecing with templates. And if you're new to paper piecing, check out my FPP tutorial that's saved to my Instagram highlights!

A HUGE shout out to the sponsors and the awesome prizes they donated for the sewalong - SewtopiaRuby Star SocietyOlisoPatchwork ThreadsKnot & Thread, and Cluck Cluck Sew! Thank you so much for your contributions!
And not only has Knot & Thread donated the cutest needle minders as prizes during the holiday sewalongs, but she is also generously giving every sewalong participant 20% off longarm services for their holiday quilts! Something to keep in mind at the end of the Firecracker sewalong!

And now for the last newsletter freebie - Pen + Paper Patterns Coloring Pages! I've included the holiday patterns + Fresh as a Daisy! Click on the blue button below to download them! And pro tip - The coloring pages could make a pretty good distraction for children while you're cutting up your fabric. Just sayin' ;)
I'm so excited to see your fabric pulls and pretty piles of cut fabric! If you share your progress to Instagram this week make sure to use the hashtag #firecrackersewalong in your caption so I can see it too! A weekly post to Instagram also counts as an entry for the grand prize at the end of the sewalong!

Happy Sewing!
<3 Lindsey
