Buttoned Up was inspired by my Granny's AKA Great Gramma's button stash, pictured below.
My Granny lived in Pennslyvania and while visiting there several years ago I was able to see some of my Granny's posessions that I hadn't seen before. At that point in time I had been sewing for a couple years. Since my Granny was a prolific sewist I was especially excited to see anything sewing-related. Out of what I saw, her button stash had the biggest impact. I remember looking through it and being in awe of not only how many she had collected, but also of how beautiful they all were. The tin that held the buttons was equally beautiful as well.

Buttoned Up is actually the second quilt inspired by my Granny. Taffy Pull is based on a quilt she had made my Gramma, her daughter. I wish I had the photo of the quilt still. It had so many Y-seams and was made in beautiful lighter tone prints against a white background. Taffy Pull is a super simplified version of it. It also contains zero Y-seams 😅
Buttoned Up is traditionally pieced and recommended for the confident beginner sewist & up. The pattern includes instructions for making two sizes - Small throw (53 1/2" x 65 1/2") and large throw (65 1/2" x 77 1/2"). The pattern also includes a bonus heart button block!
