I'm such a fan of Cloud 9 collections so when I saw their new Snail Mail collection I knew I had to make Happy Mail in it. And it's not super often I can say this, but I love how it turned out in real life even more than the mock up!
The stationary/mail theme of this collection combined with the gorgeous floral prints immediately sold me. I love the colors in this collection as well! All of the greens, aquas, peaches, and mustard yellows look so amazing together.
I ended up doing a different fabric for the "letter" in the envelope block - A super easy swap! I recommend getting a fat 1/8 for the baby size and a fat 1/4 for throw size if you're wanting to go this route as well!
Making the envelope block is so much fun (in my unbiased opinion), but if you're new to lining up diagonal seams I recommend watching my tutorial on it HERE before you start sewing!
I've mentioned in a previous blog post that piecing the strip sets for the stamp block borders is the trickiest part of making the Happy Mail quilt. Because of that I recommend checking out my IG Reel covering some helpful tips for making them!
They really are more forgiving than you think too. If you look closely at my stamp block borders above, you'll notice some wonkiness. Once those stamp blocks are sewn into the quilt top, those errors are more difficult to spot. And once it's all quilted and bound?? Even less noticeable!
Can't wait to send this off to the longarmer! I'm planning to use this panto for it! I've used it on a Hello Spring quilt previously and I was super happy with how it turned out. I'm excited to use it on another quilt!
I'll be back in about 6 weeks with more pics of this quilt finished! If you have any questions about today's post, don't hesitate to reach out to me at info@penandpaperpatterns.com!
