Thimbles Testers' Quilts

Thimbles Testers' Quilts

Thimbles Testers' Quilts

Today I'm sharing the Thimbles quilts my testers, @gailzerbe and @thedandypatch, made! And, oh yeah, sharing the second Thimbles quilt I made in this post too!

The Thimbles pattern + all other items on my site are 30% until December 12th! Use the code THIMBLES30 at checkout!

All three of us went the fat quarter route for these quilts. The cover quilt on the pattern is the 6-colorway version, but you can also make a scrappy looking version using 15 fat quarters! I think all three of us made our quilts using our stash too!

Makers are tagged in each photo so you can tap on any photo and show the maker some love on their Instagram 💛

My mom, @gailzerbe, made her Thimbles quilt in Tula Pink prints! I love how she used solids for the dimples and rim of the Thimble block. I also love how she used different colors for the dimples!
Next up is Mandy's AKA @thedandypatch's quilt! Mandy did a mix of Ruby Star Society low volume prints for her Thimble blocks (More details about the fabrics in her quilt is below!). I think it turned out SO beautiful!

The fabric used in Mandy's quilt is...

Background - Sugar in Teal by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society

Thimble rims and dimples - Speckled in Wool by Rashida Coleman Hale for Ruby Star Society

Thimbles - Various Ruby Star Society low volumes

The pantograph is Ikat 4 and was longarmed by @quiltingbydavid.

For my second Thimbles quilt I decided to make the fat quarter version from the pattern. It was made entirely from prints in my stash. I based my colors in the quilt on a solids mock up I had made (pictured at the end of this post).

I highly encourage anyone struggling to do a fabric pull for one of my patterns to reference a solids mock up blog post I've made for it and just pull prints in the same color palette (Just search "<insert pattern name> mock ups" on my site and it will pull up any relevant blog posts). I've done this before with THIS Snap Happy quilt. It's my favorite hack for making fabric pulls less time consuming.

The mock up I based my fabric pull off of is pictured above! If you want to create your own digital mock up of Thimbles you can do so on PreQuilt HERE! A printable coloring page for Thimbles can be downloaded HERE.

If you have any questions about today’s post, feel free to email me at info@penandpaperpatterns.com - I'm happy to help!
